Tire Flipping Positioning - Get Better, Faster | Movement Rx

Tire Flipping

These are my favorite. I love flipping tires and it is very similar to deadlifting, however since tires can be super awkward you will need to brace your lumbar spine, drive your knees out, and round your thoracic spine to lift the object and flip. The key with this is to make sure your spine is set before you even begin lifting, then you want to extend your hips fast just like you would with an Olympic lift.

Points of Performance:

  1. Set up spine in a braced lumbar position
  2. Feet are wider than a regular squat position
  3. Squat down, flex your thoracic spine, and lift the bottom of the tire
  4. Extend through your hips and drive the tire forward
  5. Repeat and Have Fun!

Mobilize:

Lateral Hip to help with hip flexion and external rotation
