FAQs

What are the benefits?

Mindfulness practices have a variety of benefits for physical and emotional health including heart health, stress relief, reduced pain, and better sleep. In the workplace, mindfulness practices can improve productivity, memory, creativity, focus, and emotional regulation. Most important is that mindfulness gives you more freedom to choose how to respond to everyday situations without getting hijacked by your emotions.

What do I need to participate?

Nothing! All you need is a quiet and comfortable place to sit. You can use headphones if you're somewhere noisy.

How long is the session?

Each class will be about 30 minutes.

Is this a religious practice?

The meditation and mindfulness we will be practicing throughout this c;ass have absolutely NO religious affiliations. Meditation is a mental exercise that will focus and sharpen your mind similar to when someone goes running or heads to the gym for a stronger body. Meditation is the gymnasium that will strengthen your brain. In fact, this question is asked so often that Will invited Dr. Clark Chilson, Professor of Religious Studies at Pittsburgh University onto the Men Talking Mindfulness podcast to answer. You can listen to this enlightening conversation here.

Are the three classes different?

Each class will be a standalone class for beginners. These first three foundational breath classes will be very similar to one another with some slight variations. For the best results, Will recommends attending all three of these Live classes (if you can) and repeating them for several weeks afterward. This is not an academic pursuit of gathering information. Our breathing classes are experiential. Therefore the more exposure to these practices, the greater likelihood that you will understand them on a physical level, and that is where the change begins! If you want bigger muscles you don't just go to the gym once. You have to keep showing up and work on the technique(s) in order to grow.
