To help us understand basic shapes and positions involved in sport and everyday life, Dr. Kelly Starrett of Mobility WOD and San Francisco CrossFit often speaks in terms of basic archetypes. In this week’s edition of Midweek Mobility, Movement Rx’s Dr. Theresa Larson and CrossFit Stronghold owner/coach Ray Regno discuss the hang archetype and the mobility demands for optimizing this position: namely internal rotation of the shoulder. Along with describing the archetype, Theresa and Ray identify common movements that can be adversely affected and athletic injuries that can occur if not paid attention to, as well as prescribe some simple techniques to help improve mobility, stability, and motor control.
