Dr. Meghan Helwig brings a tremendous level of experience to her work with Movement Rx.
A native of Morris County, NJ, Meghan earned a finance degree from Villanova University where she was a 4 year starter as goalie for university’s Div. I Field Hockey Team. Meghan’s passion for physical therapy was born while she was rehabbing an injury sustained while training for a half-Ironman triathlon. She promptly switched careers in 2006 and never looked back.
From the start Meghan knew there were certain techniques she wanted to master – such as ART (Active Release Technique) – because they were what helped keep her healthy and training at an elite level for many years.
Meghan is a full body, Master’s certified ART provider. This is just one of the many “tools” she utilizes to treat her patients.
Some of Dr. Helwig’s other certifications/Techniques she uses include:
- Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT) provider
- Titleist Performance Institute Medical Provider (MP3)
- Titleist Performance Institute Fitness Provider (FP2)
- Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA)
- Spinal Manipulation
- Rock Tape
- Corrective Exercises
Meghan has been a competitive athlete her entire life. She started out as a swimmer and gymnast and then switched her focus to field hockey, swimming and golf in high school. After her collegiate years playing field hockey she continued to compete as a high level triathlete and most recently started integrating Crossfit training in 2015. Meghan’s background helps her truly understand the demands human place on their bodies. Her goals are to help Movement Rx patients continue to do what they love in a safe manner and unlock their full potential.
